- This is because the official accounts of the US government, such as those of POTUS and the White House, are managed by the White House and change when the occupant of the White House changes.
- When a new president takes office, the Facebook and Instagram accounts of the previous administration are archived and transferred to the new official accounts, including the posts and followers. This also happens with the accounts of the vice president and the first lady.

Critics have accused the recent move of being a partisan effort to appease Trump, who has repeatedly slammed the company for alleged anti-conservative bias.
In a video posted by the company, Zuckerberg said fact-checking had proven to be “too politically biased” and had destroyed “more trust than they’ve created.”
