QCOSTARICA – Forbes Centroamérica, in its most recent addition, has included Costa Rica’s boxer Yokasta Valle, the walker Sharon Herrera, and the surfer Brisa Hennessy, in its list of the 100 most powerful women in Central America.
The magazine specializing in business, finance, and lifestyle, mentioned that these women were selected for their leadership in the isthmus in different areas, as well as for their struggle and social work in favor of gender equality.
The Costa Ricans were highlighted in the article, titled “100 Visionaries for the World”.

They have made a difference not only because of their outstanding competitive performance but also because of their fight for a more equal world and their fight against various forms of violence, both in the country and the world.
In the case of boxer Yokasta Valle, she is an international champion in the 105 and 108-pound categories. In addition to being a women’s rights activist, she also defends women victims of violence.
On the other hand, Forbes highlighted the achievements of walker Sharon Herrera, who ranks third in this sporting discipline. She is the first woman in the country to win a gold medal in a Pan American Cup, obtaining the national title in the 10,000 kilometers and second place in the Cantonese Grand Prix in Spain.
Brisa Hennessy is recognized as one of the best-performing surfers in the world. She highlights that she was one of the first to qualify to represent Costa Rica for Surfing at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She also mentions her struggle with eating disorders and dysmorphia that she faced at age 16.
The three athletes have impacted the world not only from a sporting point of view but also through their leadership in humanitarian struggles in areas such as health, rights, and violence, seeking to make a difference.
