QCOSTARICA — Residents of the canton de Santa Ana, west of San José, woke up this morning without water.
Thought is not an unusual situation, first thoughts are maintenance crews are doing a repair, a common occurrence in the canton. However, that is not the case this time.
On its website, the AyA (water and sewer utility) advises that “Various Districts have a suspension of drinking water service due to low level in the tank due to low system recovery”.

The areas principally affected are: Salitral (Calle Perico and surrounding areas); Pozos (Calle Pilas, B° Vásquez, Pozos y surroundings); Piedades (Piedades higher parts, Urb. Río Oro, Cebadilla, Barrio España, Calle La Chimba); and Uruca (Urb. Oro Sol, Resid. Hacienda, Urb. Cuernavaca, Cond. Jardines del Sol, Mata Grande, Rio Oro, Res. Don Beto and surrounding areas).
Several reports to the Q indicate that Santa Ana Centro is also affected by no water.
According to the AyA website, the suspension of water service began at 5:00 am and will continue until noon.
That is not entirely true, as a resident of Piedades, water suspension began around 11 pm Tuesday night. At 4:00 am there was water trickling from faucets and then nothing.
