QCOSTARICA — The revisión técnica vehicular (RTV) – vehicle technical inspection – will have to wait until the second quarter of the year to know which company will provide the service since the Comptroller General accepted the appeals filed by Dekra, the current concessionaire.
The procedure, which was on hold after the objections filed by the German company, will have to wait two months while the Comptroller “analyzes the claim on its merits”, with a deadline of April 3.
The competition held by the Road Safety Council (Cosevi), started in 2023, would be annulled.

In this regard, Carlos Ávila, Deputy Minister of Transport, said that they will remain expectant of what the Comptroller resolves in the hearings and called for calm, ensuring that the technical inspection will continue during the resolution time.
“We will do the pertinent analysis and apply the route within the scope established by the Comptroller; The technical inspection service will continue, we do not believe there will be any interruption, since they are on temporary leave until July,” he said.
The vice-minister also stressed that there is the possibility of extending this operating permit up to three more times, in case the decision of the Comptroller’s Office requires it and thus “to be able to evaluate all the necessary alternatives to guarantee the continuity of the service and that it is not an affectation for the users.”
