This situation allowed the establishment of 2 operational centers, one in the Municipality of Sarapiquí and the other in the Supervision Office of the Ministry of Public Education in Horquetas.
“We have more than 1,000 people sheltered at this time. They all have supplies, some more limited than others. Unfortunately, we did not have the amount of supplies to supply them all 100%, but we have been able to bring some supplies to all the shelters, at least food,” said the mayor.
Regarding the affected animals
According to Rodríguez, there is also a line of work to address the impact on animals.
This includes those that came with people to the shelters, especially dogs and cats.
They are also trying to address the problems with farm and/or production animals. For this, a request is being made to the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to be able to supply food for this type of animals.
