Michael Jordan in Costa Rica to take part in a fishing competition in Costa Rica

QCOSTARICA — The legendary NBA player, Michael Jordan, who arrived in Costa Rican on Monday, will participate in the next few days in a tournament called “PELAGIC Rockstar Offshore”, according to the CRHoy.com.

The event will have more than a million dollars in prizes and is known for being the largest and most prestigious sport fishing tournament in Central America.

The event will begin this Thursday at the Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, to compete for two days of fishing for the coveted title of Grand Champion of the Tournament.

“Teams from around the world travel to Quepos, Costa Rica, to compete for two days of fishing for the coveted title of Grand Champion of the Tournament.

“The PELAGIC Rockstar Offshore Tournament is the largest and most prestigious sport fishing tournament in Central America. Fishing teams from around the globe travel to Quepos, Costa Rica, to compete over two days for the esteemed title of Grand Champion of the Tournament and for a significant cash prize,” detailed the organization on its social networks.

Among the species that are expected to be found are sailfish, marlin, tuna and dorado.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, January 9: Team registration, captains’ meeting and launch party.
  • Friday 10th and Saturday 11th January: Tournament fishing days.
  • Sunday 12th January: Awards ceremony.

Michael Jordan touched down at the San José airport (SJO) on Monday, where his yacht, Catch 23, docked at the Los Sueños marina in Playa Herradura, north of Quepos.
