RICO’s Q – I didn’t realize or feel the impact until I saw the news that the apps WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram suffered a global crash on Wednesday that affected its applications and whose service has already been restored.
“We are aware that a technical problem is affecting the ability of some users to access our applications,” Meta, which owns the apps, warned in a message on X.
“Thanks for bearing with us! We’re 99% of the way there – just doing some last checks. We apologize to those who’ve been affected by the outage,” Meta said. However, the company has yet to confirm whether all its issues have been resolved, only saying it experienced “technical issues”.

The outages started around 18:00 GMT (noon in Costa Rica) on Wednesday, according to Downdetector. A variety of issues were reported including not being able to use the apps at all or feeds not refreshing for certain users.
