QCOSTARICA — The Union of Workers of the Judicial Branch (Sitrajud) denounced the non-payment of 400 salaries during the second half of December.
The situation was due to the “exhaustion of financial resources” due to the increase in personnel movements, reported the Judicial Branch, resulting in non-payment for the interim movements, bonuses, or salaries.
It was not clear in the statement by the union and judiciary if employees received their Aguinaldo, the annual bonus, to be paid on or before December 20.

The salaries will be paid in the first half of January “under the new budget”, said the Judiciary in a statement.
“We recognize the impact that this situation may generate on the economic stability of the judicial staff and we reaffirm our commitment to continue working on the timely payment of pending amounts and future salaries,” communicated the public institution.
The union filed a formal complaint for a “request for an investigation against the Human Resources Department for failure to fulfill duties and negligence in not anticipating budgetary errors.”
“It is not possible that the working class must always comply by legal imperative with each and every one of its obligations and the employer (a public institution), fail to comply with the payment of monetary obligations to one as a worker,” the union said.
