Is There A Corner Of India In Costa Rica? ⋆ The Costa Rica News

In a world where specialization seems to be the norm, Abril Zamora Valverde defies convention and shows us that it is possible to combine different passions and talents to create a life full of purpose and meaning. This Costa Rican, a physical therapist by profession and an entrepreneur at heart, invites us to discover her fascinating career path, from physical rehabilitation to importing exotic furniture (from India) and managing film projects.

A few days ago, we spoke with Abril, who is originally from Costa Rica, specifically from San Carlos, in the northern part of the country, where she grew up, in her own words, surrounded by nature and animals.

She is a multifaceted woman. She defines herself according to her virtues: as a self-determined, responsible, intelligent, calm, consistent, patient, honest, kind, respectful person who, among other virtues, likes to care for others and worries about them. She also defines herself as a good advisor, cheerful, and someone who leads her life based on ethics.

Among her flaws, Abril mentioned that she thinks too much about others and that, at times, she puts herself second.

At the beginning of the interview, I mentioned that she is a girl who combines different passions and talents to create a life full of purpose and meaning, as she has a degree in Physical Therapy, specializing in back and shoulder rehabilitation. She is also a professional massage therapist, is fluent in English, and works as a chef for small tourism businesses. She also has experience in administrative management.

business, agroecology, French artisan baking, and is skilled in conscious breathing techniques, pranayama, and meditation.

Abril has been working in physical rehabilitation for 16 years, treating people of all ages, mainly older adults.

She currently works as a manager for Novaterra Films, on film projects for movies, documentaries, music videos, and commercials.

What led her to the world of entrepreneurship?

Since she was a child, she worked with her family on their farm, taking care of horses, cows, pigs, chickens, geese, and other animals. “We sold milk, eggs, and other products. In short, I learned to work on my own from an early age,” she said.

We know that her business is importing furniture from India, but we wanted to know more details about whether she imports from other countries and the name of her business.

Abril confirmed that she does import furniture, but only from India.

In 2017, she decided to start bringing furniture from India to Costa Rica because she used to work for a foundation called “El Arte de Vivir” (The Art of Living). “This foundation is dedicated to teaching breathing and meditation practices. With the contacts I made at the foundation, I decided to bring their wonderful furniture to Costa Rica. The name of my store is Changa Changa Store.”

Regarding the furniture… Each piece not only decorates, but also tells stories of tradition, patience, and artistry. “Perfect for those seeking authenticity, quality, and a style that transcends trends. We sell furniture with bronze inlays: sophistication and detail at their finest. Our furniture combines fine woods with delicate handcrafted metal details, creating an elegant and timeless contrast that adds character and luxury to any space,” explained the Costa Rican entrepreneur.

Another feature of the furniture is that it is hand-painted: Inspired by the vibrant colors and patterns of Rajasthani art, these pieces are true visual gems. Each brushstroke reflects hours of meticulous work and creativity, bringing to life floral, geometric, and symbolic designs that make each piece of furniture unique. “They are definitely the best prices on the market. Prices range from $170 to $950.”

What kind of audience can buy furniture from Abril?

Anyone who wants an exuberantly beautiful and highly energetic object in their home.

Abril also added that she envisions showing and selling her furniture to people in her showroom in San Pedro.

There are people who have a piece of furniture at home or in their workspace that could have a spiritual or emotional impact. Regarding the furniture in her venture, Abril told us about the impact it has…

“Wood is energy. The impact of a handmade piece of furniture from India carries the energy of the delicate hands that crafted it. Therefore, these pieces of furniture with bronze details and hand-painted finishes are not only decorative, they also transform the atmosphere of the space in which they are placed and the perception and vibration of the place. It is not just decoration, it is bringing a fragment of culture, spirituality, and beauty into your space that transforms environments and hearts,” She explained.

Finally, Abril Zamora invites all of you, our readers, to discover the magic of India in your homes. For her, each piece of handcrafted furniture has a story to tell, “Where the bronze details reflect the light; the hand-painted colors narrate traditions and the mark of artisans, showing that the furniture has a soul. Come, choose yours and let your space tell an eternal story.”
