Q24N (EFE) The government of US President Donald Trump used two military planes on Friday for two repatriation flights to Guatemala and promoted the images on social media to “send a message” of a tough approach to immigration policy.
“President Trump is sending a signal to the whole world: if you enter the US illegally you will face serious consequences,” wrote White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt in a post on the X platform where she shared images of the aircraft.
The flights took off from the Biggs military air base in El Paso (Texas) and carried around 80 people each, said The Washington Examiner.

On Friday, the White House said deportations of migrants had “begun,” referring to Trump’s main campaign promise to carry out the largest mass expulsion operation of foreigners in US history.
However, deportation flights from the US are not something new and were carried out constantly during the administration of Joe Biden (2021-2025).
Between June and December of last year alone, more than 860 repatriation flights took place, according to data released last week by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). More than 271,000 individuals from some 160 countries were expelled on these trips.
In its first days, the Trump administration signed a series of executive orders aimed at speeding up the process of deporting migrants, ending access to asylum, and militarizing the border with Mexico.
Trump, who took office on Monday, January 20, came to power on an anti-immigrant message, promising to “eradicate” irregular migration to the US and expel people who do not have legal status in the country.
