According to the national weather service, Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN), there will be an increase in the frequency of gusts in the North Pacific, Central Valley and the mountain ranges.

At the moment, cold push #5 is located over the Gulf of Mexico and will soon reach the northwest of the Caribbean Basin.
For its part, the CNE provides some recommendations to the general population:
- To the population, mainly those living in risk areas, stay informed and only follow the messages disseminated by official agencies at the national, regional and municipal level.
- Take extreme precautions due to strong winds and their effects on roofs, poles, electrical wiring, signs and trees.
- Avoid burns of any kind, since, given the dry and windy conditions, they can easily get out of control. Caution for bathers on beaches, due to rip currents.
- Extreme caution should be taken in mountainous parts of the country, such as national parks, volcanic areas and others.
- Caution for air navigation due to strong turbulence, over mountainous areas and lower atmospheric levels.
- Caution for small fishing and tourism boats.
- Caution for drivers due to adverse road conditions, due to rain, fog and wind, both due to visibility and falling trees or landslides.
The official weather forecast for today, Thursday, December 12, 2024:
This Thursday, the cold push #5 will be moving through the northern Caribbean Sea, increasing the intensity of the trade winds in the south of Central America, forecasting strong wind gusts (between 40 km/h and 60 km/h) both in the North Pacific and in the Central Valley and mountainous sectors of the country; however, values of between 80 km/h and 90 km/h could be registered in the mountain passes in the Guanacaste Mountain Range.
