QCOSTARICA — The dollar exchange saw a new high on Tuesday, reaching ¢524 colones to one US dollar in the Foreign Currency Market (Monex).

This Wednesday morning, the Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) – Central Bank – set the dollar exchange reference rate at ¢521.50 for the buy and ¢525.05 for the sell.

At the local banks and financial institutions, the dollar exchange ranges from ¢511 to ¢518 for the buy and ¢527 to ¢533 for the sell.

The dollar exchange has shown an upward trend for more than five weeks, rebounding for a very low of around ¢502 and ¢503.

Different economists have explained that the adjustments have been relatively small, but continuous, making them significant, and that the increases are related to factors that have decreased the supply of U.S. dollars and increased demand in the exchange market.
