“Like many people, I had my doubts, but after learning about all the benefits, confirming battery warranty issues and so on, I was convinced that this was a great opportunity. I estimate that the savings I will have will be between 250,000 and 300,000 colones in fuel, in addition to other supplies such as oil changes. Added to the great economic benefit and environmental protection, the cutting-edge technology, comfort and spaciousness of the AION S was what convinced me to take the step. I know that there are colleagues who are still thinking about it, I invite them to decide to take the step to electric mobility,” said Arce.
The electric units are the AION model S brand, distributed in the country by the company EVE, the first 100% electric vehicle dealership in Costa Rica.
“As a company, 5 years ago we made the decision to dedicate ourselves exclusively to the sale of electric vehicles, it was a bet in accordance with our social commitment. Today we feel very excited to see how more and more users allow us to accompany them in that step. Additionally, the fact that the concessionaires of the first 7 airport taxis and now of these two red taxis have chosen our AION S model confirms the quality of the brand and fills us with pride,” commented Tomás Suarez, Director of EVE.
According to the concessionaires, the economy combined with the opportunity to join the efforts to protect the environment and people’s health were decisive in the decision to opt for electric mobility, while the autonomy, the size of the trunk and the spaciousness of the passenger area, as well as the comfort in the ride were the characteristics that made them choose that specific model.
Authorities from the transport and environmental sectors expressed their satisfaction and support for the development of electric mobility in public transport.
“It is a very nice way for me to start the year, coming here and seeing this beautiful taxi tells us that we are going in the right direction. It is a very important sign that we are serious about electric mobility, but also with the modernization of the transport service. “The fact that taxi units go from a majority of diesel to zero emissions is the real step towards decarbonization,” said the Vice Minister of Transport, Carlos Ávila.
