Costa Rica’s Eugene O’Neill Theater Lights Up the Holidays with Charitable Concerts

This Christmas season, the Eugene O’Neill Theater is transforming into a beacon of holiday spirit and philanthropy with two nights of charitable concerts. Get ready to be serenaded on the 12th and 13th of December with melodies that not only warm the heart but also contribute to noble causes.

“Aires de Navidad”: A Night of Costa Rican Christmas Carols

Kicking off the festivities on December 12th, “Aires de Navidad” is set to be an enchanting evening. This concert is a unique blend of traditional Costa Rican Christmas songs performed by the country’s esteemed lyrical singers. The lineup boasts compositions by Amelia Barquero, Ana Isabel Vargas, William Porras, Julio Mata, Rocío Sanz, Ricardo Salas, and Tertuliano Mora, including the century-old “La Nochebuena” by José María Alfaro Cooper and José Joaquín Vargas Calvo.

Adding to the festive mood, the concert will open with classic North American carols and popular songs, featuring the talented Jodi Beck as a special guest. What’s more, the proceeds from “Aires de Navidad” will help provide essentials for Til He Returns, a non-profit aiding vulnerable communities. Tickets are a steal at just 3,000 colones, or you can opt to bring a gift for children aged 0-12 years.

“Melodías Festivas”: A Magical Musical Journey

December 13th will see “Melodías Festivas” take center stage, promising a magical journey through holiday music. The concert features the violin virtuosity of Jazmín and Jacqueline Fernández Ramírez, accompanied by pianist Izmael Pacheco. Funds raised from this night will support the violinists’ participation in the 2024 International Music Festival of Guadalajara. Tickets for this melodious evening are priced at 7,000 colones and can be purchased at https://teo.cr.

Cultural Collaboration: A Celebration of Costa Rican and American Ties

These concerts are a collaborative effort by the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Center and the Eugene O’Neill Theater. Juan Diego Roldán, the Cultural Director of the CCCN, invites Costa Rican families to join them in celebrating the festive season and the end of another year, highlighting the institution’s role in promoting Costa Rican cultural scene.

Get ready to immerse yourself in an experience that’s not just about music, but also about community and giving back. It’s Christmas spirit in its purest form – wrapped in melodies and garnished with goodwill!
