Costa Rican chocolate wins Latin American competition and qualifies for the final of the world competition

QCOSTARICA — Costa Rica’s Chocolate Sibö advanced to the final of the global chocolate competition last week, after having won one gold and two bronze medals at the International Chocolate Awards, beating chocolate makers from all over Latin America.

Its distinguished Coffee Toffee chocolate bar was the winner of the gold medal, while the two bronze medals were obtained by the dark Caramel with Salt and Huetar 70% chocolate.

George Soriano, Marketing and Sales Director of Chocolate Sibö said that, once again, the company distinguishes itself for the quality of its products worldwide and places Costa Rica as a producer of cocoa and fine chocolate.

“Our small factory has always dreamed big! We hope that this recognition will be a source of pride for Costa Rica and will help us to carry out our mission of making our country known, not only for its coffee, but also for its chocolate and cocoa,” said Soriano.

For his part, Mario Sáenz, Export Development Manager of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER), added: “We congratulate Chocolate Sibö, a Costa Rican company of excellence, which has been able to position the name of our country in international markets thanks to the quality and innovation of its products. We hope that its participation in the world competition will be very successful and that fine Costa Rican chocolate continues to gain ground globally.”

The International Chocolate Awards were founded in 2012 and are operated by the International Institute of Chocolate & Cacao Tasting (IICCT). The competition focuses on fine, artisanal and micro-batch chocolate makers who work directly with cocoa producers to produce pure, single-origin chocolate bars using the best natural ingredients from the Latin American and Caribbean region. The winners will be invited to the world competition.
