Guanacaste Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, together with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), announces JetBlue’s new direct route, connecting Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with Guanacaste (LIR) beginning December 4.
JetBlue will operate the route aboard a 162-seat Airbus A320 aircraft, offering the airline’s award-winning service, which features the most legroom in economy class; Fly-Fi, free, unlimited fast broadband; complimentary branded snacks and beverages; and seatback entertainment.
More direct services
With the addition of this new service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), JetBlue strengthens its presence at Guanacaste Airport, complementing its existing direct service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
“JetBlue is proud to continue raising the bar for customers in South Florida and continue to take them to the destinations they want to travel to. By adding new routes and expanding service to key destinations, we are giving travelers more opportunities to enjoy the convenience, quality service, and value that distinguish JetBlue,” said Dave Jehn, JetBlue vice president of network planning and strategic partnerships.
More doors opening for tourism
William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism, stated: “We are pleased to announce that, starting December 4th, JetBlue will open a daily direct flight from Fort Lauderdale to Guanacaste. This new route arrives right at the start of the 2025-2026 high season and reinforces the airline’s confidence in Costa Rica. Thanks to the collaborative work of ICT, Coriport, and the airport authorities, we continue to attract more and better connections. With this new option, more doors are opening for tourism, employment, and economic development in Guanacaste and its communities.”
“At Guanacaste Airport, we celebrate continuing to announce new routes, this time with the opening from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This strengthens Guanacaste’s connectivity with the southeastern coast of the United States. In 2025, we will reach record visitor numbers and consolidate Guanacaste Airport as a development hub for the region,” stated César Jaramillo, General Manager of Guanacaste Airport.
