After reaching the knockout stage by getting out of a tough Group A which included Peru, Chile and Argentina, Canada defeated Venezuela on penalties in the Quarterfinals to reach the Semifinals.
Uruguay, also earned their spot in the third place game following a very impressive tournament. La Celeste won every game in their Group Stage against Panama, Bolivia and the United States before defeating Brazil on penalties in the Quarterfinals. A hard-fought loss against Colombia in the Semifinal kept them out Finals.
