Brisa Hennessy fourth in the World in Surfing

QCOSTARICA — Costa Rica’s Brisa Hennessy finished fourth in surfing in Tahiti, so the dream of another medal at the Olympic Games will remain just that.

The Tica (Costa Rican) did not have her best day. In the semi-final, she made a mistake that cost her a penalty and was out of contention for the gold and in the competition for bronze, she did not find a wave that would allow her to overcome France’s Johanne Defay.

During the 35-minute heat, Hennessy could barely find a 3-point wave and when she had the chance with a “tube”, unfortunately, she fell and could not complete it.

Defay was active throughout the competition, taking many waves and adding important scores that gave her a total of 12.66 to get on the podium of the games.

The mistake made in the semi-final could have taken its toll on Brisa, who did improve her participation in the Olympics, since reaching the quarter-finals in Tokyo 2020.

Brisa had a bad Monday. She finished the competition with a score of just 4.93.

Time became her worst enemy and with the final whistle of the judges the dream of a medal.
