American Airlines to launch new flight from Costa Rica to Chicago

QCOSTARICA — American Airlines will expand its operations in Costa Rica this year, adding a route to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). The flight will be inaugurated on November 3, 2025, and will operate daily until April 6, 2026.

The service will be provided on a Boeing 737 aircraft with a capacity of 172 passengers.

This 2025-2026 season, American Airlines will operate 56 weekly flights to and from the San José airport (SJO) to three hubs in the United States: Miami (MIA), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Charlotte (CLT) and Chicago (ORD). This represents a 25% increase in visitor capacity compared to the current average of 2024-2025.
