FIFA unveiled the three official mascots of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The chosen ones are Maple, a Canadian moose; Zayu, a Mexican jaguar; and Clutch, an American eagle. Each symbolizes the cultural richness of the host countries and will accompany fans throughout the tournament, which will bring together 48 teams for the first time.
A Tribute to Culture and Diversity
FIFA explained that the mascots seek to convey a message of unity and celebrate the diversity of the three countries. Maple stands out for her resilience and creativity, Zayu embodies the strength and joy of Mexican heritage, while Clutch symbolizes the bold and optimistic spirit of the United States. “Maple, Zayu, and Clutch convey joy, excitement, and the spirit of togetherness that defines the FIFA World Cup,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Appearance in Video Games and Official Merchandise
For the first time, the mascots will be interactive characters in FIFA Heroes, a new officially licensed arcade title available in 2026 for consoles and mobile devices. They will also play a role in FIFA Super League Soccer on Roblox. Additionally, they will be part of the licensing program with official merchandise, jerseys, and accessories available to fans on FIFAstore.com.
Stars on and off the pitch
During the tournament, Maple, Zayu, and Clutch will be present in stadiums and at events, encouraging fans, especially young fans. According to FIFA, these characters “will be an essential element of the festive atmosphere” of the tournament and are expected to become symbols of the 2026 edition.
