The Spanish Cultural Center Will Open the “I Hate You” Exhibition ⋆ The Costa Rica News

The Spanish Cultural Center will open its exhibition “I Hate You: Hate as a Strategy of Power and Political and Social Control” next Thursday, October 2, at 7 p.m. in Barrio Escalante.

This exhibition explores the various facets of hatred. The exhibition seeks to encompass its emotional and psychological nature, its social and political manifestations, and also the spread of hate speech and its consequences.

The exhibition, curated by Ricardo Ramón Jarne and José Castillo Picado, discusses how hatred affects individuals and groups, as well as the mechanisms of resistance to it.

It also showcases the value of art as a powerful tool to raise public awareness about the importance of combating discrimination and intolerance. It is a space for reflection, criticism, and the search for solutions to this problem through dialogue that will build consensus to move toward a more just society.

The exhibit includes Acaymo Cuesta, Daniel Valladares Bustamente, David Fernando López Salazar, Diana Villalobos Fontana, Dina Lizeth Lagos Funes, Gabriel Coronado Dumani, Edgar Agames Aguilar, Erick F. Rojas Vargas, Eugenio Merino, Fernando Sánchez Castillo, Héctor Roa Cabalceta, Helen Bustamante Fajardo, Jose Carlos Muñoz Chacón, Kevinn Rafael Dubón Salazar, Yosllin Melissa Pastrana Castellano, Nelson Díaz Brenes, Nathaniela Acuña Ugalde, Ninfa Benoni Espinoza Mejía, Paul Laurent SFEZ Hayat, Regina Aguilar, Rigoberto Camacho, Santiago Sierra, and Sheyla Santana Mora.

With this exhibition, the CCE seeks to stop the mad race of hate in which the world is immersed, which could lead to the total destruction of society. It is a dialogue between artists from Central America to address the issue and generate cultural activism against hate.
