The first edition of the “Masterminds Chess Challenge 2025,” a free individual tournament designed for young strategists is launched. The event, which seeks to promote the development of analytical and critical thinking skills, will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the CENFOTEC University facilities.The tournament is open to young people between the ages of 16 and 19, regardless of their experience level.
Karla Jiménez, Marketing Director of CENFOTEC, stated:
Chess is a discipline that goes hand in hand with logic and strategy, key skills in the technological careers we offer. With this tournament, we aim to provide a space where young people can demonstrate their ingenuity and connect with others passionate about this mental sport.
Prizes for Mastermind Chess Winners
Participants will compete for the title of “Mastermind” and have the opportunity to win valuable prizes. First place will be awarded a scholarship for a Bachelor’s or Technical degree at CENFOTEC University and a SumoBot Robot Competition Kit, an educational kit that includes two textbooks and parts to build two competition-ready robots that comply with the rules of the Northwest Mini-Sumo Robot Tournament. Additionally, scholarships and SumoBot kits will be awarded to the best female and best male players (not first-place winners).

Registration is free and will be open until Saturday, September 20, 2025.
