Q COSTA RICA — Night closures are in effect on the autopista General Cañas (San Jose – Alajuela highway) due to security work in the areas of the Hospital México and Repretel.
The closures will be until February 7, from 9 pm to 5 am, in the Alajuela to San José direction, is required to remove trees and branches that represent a danger to vehicles and pedestrians, between the Real Cariari and the Juan Pablo II bridge.
Drivers should plan out alternate routes to avoid the area during the closures and the hours after reopening. This Monday morning, shortly after 5:00 am. traffic from the Cariari to the Circunvalación was heavy.

Among the options recommended by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) are:
- Belén-Santa Ana route
- Ruta 27 from Santa Ana to La Sabana
- From Real Cariari, take the road towards CENADA-Barreal-Lagunilla and then turn off towards Jardines del Recuerdo, La Pozuelo and Juan Pablo II.
