Edmundo González gives hope to Venezuelans in Costa Rica

Q COSTA RICA — Venezuelan leader and president-elect Edmundo González, while in Costa Rica, told Venezuelans that they will soon be able to return to their country.

This was in statements during his visit to the Casa Presidencial on Thursday afternoon.

“As soon as the dictatorship that currently prevails in Venezuela ceases, they will be able to return to their country and thousands will return to Caracas by all means,” he said.

González referred to the Venezuelan’s desire for peace and freedom, while stressing that at this time there can be no giving in.

“Venezuela is united in the common desire for peace, freedom and prosperity, and the true democrats of the world endorse the sovereign decision that the Venezuelan people have already issued. In this critical hour, no one can doubt or give in,” he said.

González also thanked Costa Rica for the support it has shown him to date.

“We know that we can count on our brothers from Costa Rica, who will continue to honor this shared tradition of fighting for freedom and democracy,” he added.

González arrived in Costa Rica Wednesday night, as part of a tour he is undertaking in different countries that recognize him as the legitimate leader of Venezuela, including Panama, Argentina, Guatemala, and the United States.
