A hotel designed for the comfort and efficiency of travelers

The hotel, which will have more than 170 rooms, will offer integrated public areas, such as a bar that will also function as a reception, a restaurant, social areas, coworking, meeting rooms and a gym.

Its unique design, led by Saballos Arquitectos and a multidisciplinary team of experts, will ensure a modern and functional environment that stands out for its elegant and industrial design.

The direct connection to the airport through a pedestrian bridge will allow guests to easily move between the hotel and the SJO, optimizing their travel experience.

This new hotel will be under the MOXY brand, one of Marriott Bonvoy’s more than 30 brands, which is characterized by its focus on modern, free-spirited travelers who value independence and self-service. The hotel will integrate dynamic social areas, such as a lounge, a library and a bar that will become the heart of the space, providing guests with exciting ways to work, socialize and enjoy their stay.

“We are extremely excited to expand the MOXY Hotels brand in the region, adding to the properties under development in vibrant destinations such as Mexico City (Mexico), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), San José (Costa Rica), Medellín (Colombia) and Tulúm (Mexico).

With more than 145 properties open in 30 countries and territories, Moxy boldly breaks the rules of a conventional hotel stay around the world,” said Uriel Burak, Vice President of Development for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America.

With an investment of US$20 million and a construction area of approximately 6,500 m² (70,000 sq ft), this project aligns with the vision of AERIS, manager of the San José airport, to transform the air terminal into a modern and relevant ecosystem of services.

“Our purpose is to make SJO more relevant by offering services that allow our passengers and tourists to have a Pura Vida stay from the beginning to the end of their trip, as well as strengthening the image of Costa Rica internationally, promoting tourism, a key source of development for the country. With the support of Marriott International and AZ Hospitality Group, this project becomes a reality. We thank the Technical Council of Civil Aviation (CETAC), the Supervisory Body of the Interested Management and the Costa Rican Tourism Institute for their support of this initiative,” said Ricardo Hernández, Executive Director of AERIS.
