QCOSTARICA — Tickets on the new Avianca San José – Miami route, that will begin operations on March 30, 2025, either through the airline’s app or on its website are now on sale.
This new route will be operated on Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 180 passengers, will be daily between the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José (SJO) and the Miami International Airport (MIA) in Florida.
Flights leave Costa Rica at 8:25 am arriving in Miami at 1:15 pm, and from Miami at 9:40 pm arriving in San José at 10:40 pm. All times are local.

“After a 2024 in which we managed to consolidate the widest network in our history and transport the largest number of passengers in our 105 years, we are very excited to continue strengthening connectivity to and from Costa Rica. We will continue working with authorities, airports and allies to make this new route a success,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca Sales Director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
According to the most recent data from Costa Rica’s Immigration service, analyzed by the Tourism board (ICT), between January and November 2024, Costa Rica received 1.4 million tourists from the United States, which confirms the relevance of this market for the sector.
“It is a pleasure to start this 2025 with excellent news for tourism in Costa Rica. The new San José – Miami route strengthens air connectivity with one of our most important markets in line with the efforts and vision of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
“Miami is a preferred destination for many Costa Rican tourists, who will now have an additional option. Likewise, travelers from Miami will have more options to experience everything that Costa Rica has to offer,” said William Rodriguez, Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism.
