QCOSTARICA — The national weather service, the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN), forecasts that strong gusts of wind and occasional rain will predominate over the weather conditions this Tuesday, due to the influence of Cold Surge #8 that will enter the country today.
“The entry of Cold Surge #8 into the Caribbean Sea will generate moderate to strong trade winds, with occasional gusts in the Central Valley, North Pacific and in the mountains,” said the IMN.
A cold surge is a weather system that occurs when a mass of cold, dry air moves from the Siberian-Mongolian High (SMH) towards the equator.

The IMN estimates gusts between 30 km/h and 60 km/h towards the lower sectors and maximums between 60 km/h and 90 km/h in the mountains.
In the Central and South Pacific, showers are expected during the afternoon. Meanwhile, in the Caribbean and Northern Zone, occasional rains may occur during the day and scattered rains during the night.
Part of the cloudiness will reach the Central Valley at night, where drizzle could occur in the mountains and the east of the region.
