QCOSTARICA — Michael Jordan (not to be confused with Costa Rica’s own Maikol Yordan) landed in Ticolandia on Monday in his private jet at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) and a DJ was the one who took one of the best photographs of the aircraft on Costa Rican soil.
The photographer was omás Cubero, who has been a plane spotter for more than 20 years.
“I have been a spotter (airplane photographer) since I was 14 years old and I have been spotting on all continents,” said Cubero, whose other hobbies include being a DJ, and event production.

“I studied aviation, but I never finished the degree; halfway through I changed and ended up being one of the most recognized DJs in the country and I also dedicate myself to event production,” he explained.
How did he take the photo?
One of the spotters’ jobs is to follow up on certain news or rumors that may turn out to be true in order to be in the right place at the right time.
Cubero did it.
“It had been reported several days ago that Jordan’s fishing yacht was here. Usually, when a yacht belonging to someone well-known appears in the country, the arrival of its owner happens a few days later,” he said.
Tomás mentioned that his uncertainty was about where Jordan could land.

“What we didn’t know was if he was going to enter through Liberia or San José, it was more logical that it would be at SJO (Juan Santamaría Airport) since Quepos is closer to San José than Liberia and so it was.”
The spotter mentioned that he has photographs of airplanes on all continents, which is why, during his more than two decades dedicating himself to this hobby, he has more than 10 thousand photos of this style.
The arrival of the superstar
Jordan is believed to have arrived in the country for a sport fishing contest, a sport of which the basketball legend is also a fan.
The Jet in which he arrived is a Gulfstream 650ER. In addition to the Jet, Jordan’s yacht was spotted a few days ago in Marina Los Sueños, which gave indications of his pending arrival in Costa Rica.
