“Get out, fraud, resign,” is heard in the recording, along with other claims such as “Get out, get out” and “Out.”

The act was part of the activities commemorating the 76 years since the abolition of the army in Costa Rica, a historic moment highlighted by the president in his speech.

“Today we commemorate one of the most visionary decisions in our history. In 1948, Costa Rica took a step that challenged the norms of the time, the logic of the world at that time. A step that distinguished us among nations and that traced a path of peace and development that has been an example for the world,” said Chaves.

“76 years ago we chose peace over war and today we have the opportunity to show the world our unity again, to show the world that Costa Rica is stronger than any threat,” added the president.

The ceremony continued later with the activities scheduled within the framework of the second part of the FIA in San José, after having been held in the province of Guanacaste.
