OP-ED by Barbara Steenstrup — Phyllis Kramer, a key Democrats Abroad volunteer who lives in Nosara proudly reported: “Today I finally finished getting my oldest voter’s ballot done and faxed in. Micki Price Savage was born in April 1926 on the Lower East Side of New York and raised in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Later they moved to California. In 1990, she and her husband Don bought a house in Nosara. Micki is 98 years old.,lucid, semi mobile, and with real time memories of World War 2 and Hitler.”
Phyllis reported that they hit some stumbling blocks getting her ballot, some confusion about data.
Micki was nearly in tears thinking she couldn’t vote against Trump. But with Phyllis help, it was straightened out and Micki got her ballot. She voted straight blue all the way!!! Micki was overjoyed.

Micki and Don have two children in the U.S. Micki said that when they moved to Costa Rica, they threw away their skis and opted for the beach life.
In 1970, Nosara had a startup community called The American Project. For many US citizens, it was a better choice than being alone. The exceptional natural beauty of Nosara was also a draw. Until a few years ago, Don and Micki were still traveling back and forth to California. Now their children come to visit them.
After successfully helping Micki, Phyllis was elated but also exhausted.
In all, Phyllis has helped 69 voters with this electoral cycle.
