At the end of last week, according to the Ministry of Health, 42 patients had died from respiratory diseases, so authorities extended a call to parents and other caregivers to take extreme measures with minors.
The Ministry of Health has called for the completion of vaccination schedules, the reinforcement of hand washing, the use of disposable tissues when coughing or sneezing, and the implementation of the correct sneezing/coughing technique.
Additionally, authorities recommend avoiding crowds and especially ask not to attend mass activities with children under five years of age and to prefer activities outdoors or in ventilated spaces, in addition to distancing children from sick people.
They also asked families not to medicate children without having previously made a medical consultation, not to take children with respiratory symptoms, diarrhea or vomiting to educational centers, promote exclusive breastfeeding in children under six months of age, and go to the corresponding medical center in case care is required.
