Hurricane Milton affect Costa Rica?

QCOSTARICA — Despite the calls of concern by worried people, experts at Costa Rica’s national weather service, the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN)According to experts from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), Hurricane Milton has had no effect on our country.

“It does not have and will not have any effect on our country, the conditions we have right now in Central America are merely local factors as such,” explained meteorologist Gabriela Chinchilla, meteorologist, on Wednesday.

What will affect the country, for the rest of the week, will be the intertropical convergence zone and a tropical wave that is approaching.

“We have (tropical) wave 39, which at this moment we could locate in the eastern Caribbean Sea, practically between Puerto Rico and Venezuela, it is moving slowly towards us, we expect that on Saturday it will be passing through the country,” added Chinchilla.

This means that from Friday onwards the country will experience even more rainy conditions, which could trigger incidents.

The IMN also reports that active hurricanes Kirk and Leslie are moving over the Atlantic Ocean and that no effects of these systems are expected over Costa Rica.

This Thursday, the Intertropical Convergence Zone will be positioned over the country, which, combined with local factors, will favor the occurrence of rain. In the early morning, storms are expected to develop over maritime areas, with the possibility that some of this rain could reach the Pacific coastal regions.

In the morning, there will be partial cloud cover, with more cloudiness along the Pacific coast, where isolated showers may occur.

In the afternoon, heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are expected in the Pacific, Central Valley, Northern Zone, and Caribbean regions.

Some of this rain may continue into the night, particularly during the early hours. Additionally, fog banks may develop in the Central Valley and surrounding mountains.
