QCOSTARICA — The countdown to the 10 days of celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Limón Carnivals has begun, thanks to the announcement of the official programming of an agenda of activities that promises to be full of joy, rhythm, and flavor.
The organization officially presented the eight candidates for the reign of the carnivals, thus marking the final expectation route for the beginning of one of the most anticipated parties of the year.

This year, the seventy-fifth edition of the carnival will run from October 11 to 21 and will include a variety of entertainment, such as carousel troupes, traditional games, masquerades, sports and cultural activities, theater, a domino tournament, bullfights and the traditional “tiliches” auction.
Three parades are planned: the first on the Day of Cultures, which will include a band competition (October 12), the Tope de Carnaval (October 13) and the traditional Carnival (October 19).
Concerts with national artists will highlight the “Concert of Joy” (October 12) with the participation of Marfil, D Anghelo, DJ Pewee, Max de la O, together with the “Concert of Rhythm” (October 13) with Elena Umaña, Marko Jara and Los Alegrisimos, as well as the “Concert of Taste” (October 19) with the presence of the Buenaventura Orchestra, Esmo 2 + Latino, La Séptima Estación, Zapata and his Calypso.
The “Closing Concert of Carnivals” (October 20) will be in charge of Toledo, DJ Acon and DJ Sadix. The “International Concert of the 75 years” (October 18) was confirmed with Valentino, Chiqui Dubs, Anyuri and Zafari Team.

According to the organizing committee, the activities will be distributed between the JAPDEVA Fairgrounds, the Redondel, the Boulevard of Parque Vargas, the Fortín, the House of Culture, the Juan Gobán Stadium, the streets of Limón Centro, as well as the districts of Limón, Valle de la Estrella, Matama and Río Blanco.
Adriana Brenes, spokesperson for the Limón Carnival Commission, said that “Limón has a lot of culture, many traditions and customs that are part of our Caribbean flavor. It is important for us that Costa Ricans come and be part of this festivity that represents us. This year we celebrate 75 years that reflect the joy, rhythm and flavor that represents us as a province.”

“Without a doubt, the month of October is a season in the center of Limón, due to the arrival of its emblematic carnivals. For this reason, the Costa Rican Tourism Board would like to extend an invitation to all Costa Ricans to come and visit the province of Limón from October 11 to 21 during this time, the perfect reason to enjoy a full agenda of activities, as well as the gastronomy, history, national parks, wonderful beaches and other unique tourist attractions that the Caribbean offers” said Rafael Soto, General Manager of the ICT.
One of the highlights of the program of activities will be the coronation of the Queen of the Carnivals, on October 11, where a group of eight finalists will show their sympathy, intelligence, values, beauty and love for the province of Limón.
Nalisha Taylor, Daniela Pinnock, Kendra Sirias, Eujaneika Minat, Keishelyne Kirkeness, Shayna Ewers, Kattry Presida and Maria Jara are the finalists of the pageant.
“With the pageant we seek a representation of our Limonense culture and good values. Each of the candidates is enjoying the process” concluded María Miranda, one of the pageant coordinators.
