QCOSTARICA — Looking for work? Companies in Costa Rica’s agricultural and transportation sectors are opening up employment opportunities: some 16,000 positions for coffee pickers for the 2024-2025 harvest, and 1,500 positions for bus drivers for regular routes for transporting people.
This was announced by the CSAEM project (Health Coverage and Access to Employment for the Migrant Population), which invites migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and nationals to participate in the recruitment processes.
The agricultural harvest is currently at its peak. All interested persons should contact the regional offices of both the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), as well as the ICAFE offices in the areas of Coto Brus, Pérez Zeledón, Los Santos and Turrialba, or directly contact the coffee companies and producers; as well as organizations focused on other agricultural products in Puntarenas, Huetar Norte and Guanacaste.

For their part, people interested in vacancies in the transportation sector can contact the National Chamber of Transportation at camaranacionaltransportes@ice.co.cr or approach the regular route companies in the different communities of the country.

Currently, and thanks to the reform of article 128 of the Regulations for Refugees, any person in refugee status or requesting it, will be able to have a provisional work permit and reaffirm the same social, labor and health guarantees as a Costa Rican citizen in the labor market.
Requirements to apply for a job in Costa Rica:
Identification document. (national ID, DIMEX, refugee card)
Work permit. (migrants, asylum seekers and refugees)
National or foreign driver’s license (if required)
CSAEM is a project coordinated by the Spanish Cooperation in Costa Rica, executed by the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN), financed thanks to funds from the European Union in Costa Rica (EU). Where the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS), the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) and the General Directorate of Migration and Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica (DGME) participate as executing partners.
