Anything & Everything Costa Rica

Rulers of the world power continue considering the so-called Hispanic America and the Caribbean as their backyard

Q24N (Cubanews) Sixty-four years ago -on September 2, 1960-, almost 1 million Cubans, gathered in the National General Assembly of the Cuban People, and approved in the historic Jose Marti Revolution Square the 1st Declaration of Havana on behalf of their fellow countrymen, after its reading by the young leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

With that action, full of patriotic fervor, an urgent and forceful response was given, very clear, to the fallacious Declaration of San José de Costa Rica through which the Organization of American States (OAS), slavishly obeyed a program dictated by the Empire, against the sovereign decision of Cuba and the transforming process of its government.

In that scenario, the representatives of Nicaragua and Guatemala served as devoted representatives of the lords of the North, while in other nations such as Honduras the mercenaries who the following year would carry out the aggression at Playa Giron, the so-called Bay of Pigs, sadly famous for them, as they were defeated by the Cuban people, were preparing themselves.

The crowd accompanying Fidel at the gigantic popular rally on September 2 quickly acclaimed the 1st Declaration of Havana, after hearing the well-founded arguments, validated by history, and learned about just principles and ideals, unthinkable terms such as solidarity among fellow human beings and nations, and political and social commitment in favor of the poor of the Earth, for which it was worth fighting, triumphing or dying.

It was one of the memorable experiences of the revolutionary beginnings in the Havana square and it deserves to be remembered because there are essences and circumstances of renewed relevance in the current days, especially when we observe the interferences matrixes that the enemy of always persists in using.

The Head of the Cuban Revolution then denounced the offensive of the right wing in the continent, the attempts to preserve and put into practice the disrespectful Monroe Doctrine “America for the Americans” (those of the U.S.), as the political basis and almost divine inspiration for the actions of the leaders of The Empire.

It is worth noting that these tactics are today more brutal than ever, if not, let the Venezuelan people speak about it, recently sabotaged and questioned in their majority consensus to hold free and sovereign elections, an endeavor they accomplished in spite of the aggressions and traps of the powerful.

It is no secret to anyone that since the 19th century, in 1960 and nowadays, the rulers of the world power continue considering the so-called Hispanic America and the Caribbean as their backyard. And just as in the past, some dream of making their messianic doctrine a reality, with the servile help of the oligarchies and even the betrayal of venal politicians in whom their peoples have placed their trust.

Back to the 1st Havana Declaration, it is recalled that it denounced that the San Jose conspiracy represented an affront to the sovereignty and independence of the people of Latin America, a region with a history of aggressions and interventions by the powerful neighbor, assisted by its military and financial superiority.

The history dates back more than 100 years in which territories were invaded and appropriated, as in Mexico, the full independence of Cuba was frustrated, the citizenship was massacred in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nicaragua and Panama; and Puerto Rico was incorporated, still today with neocolonial status.

The document of the Cubans criticized the hypocritical Pan-Americanism and only convenient to the interests of their monopolies, initiated by their loans in canals and railroads denounced by Jose Marti in his time, something not compatible with the land of Bolivar, Hidalgo, Juarez, O’Higgins, San Martin, Sucre and Tiradentes, where instead there was a great need to practice solidarity among all.

It expressed that true democracy was not akin to the submissive financial oligarchies of the Latin American nations that accused the island, nor to the discrimination of blacks, the exploitation of workers, the persecution of intellectuals and scientists, the mistreatment of women, the defenselessness of children and the inhabitants of rural areas, as occurred de facto in the nations that pointed an accusing finger at the island.

It defined a concept of genuine democracy, not restricted to a presidential vote, manipulated and generally representative of the interests of the landowners. In countries such as Cuba, it said that large landownership was one of the main sources of the misfortunes of the workers and oppressed, of illiteracy, low wages and extreme poverty.

It was clear and categorical when he reflected that the support shown by the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China was not intended, unlike U.S. policy, to undermine unity or to penetrate strategically into the hemisphere. They offered help to guarantee the sovereignty and security of this increasingly threatened country within its geographical environment.

It was an example of cooperation in keeping with solidarity and the full exercise of its self-determination and independence, won since 1959. In any case, the rulers of the United States, incapable of such generous gestures, should feel ashamed, stated the important document supported by the people.
