QCOSTARICA — Costa Rican hurdler Gerald Drummond Hernández has advanced to the semi-finals of the 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 Olympic Games being held in Paris.

Drummond secured a spot in the next round of the competition, which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11:35 pm Costa Rica time (7:35 pm in Paris).

In the preliminary phase, Drummond’s heat was won by Swedish athlete Carl Bengtsrom, who recorded 48.63 seconds, the best time of the round.
Drummond, who has shown consistent performance throughout the tournament, demonstrated his ability by qualifying with a competitive time that will allow him to fight for a place in the final.
For the semifinal, the athletes will be divided into three heats. Gerald Drummond will compete in the third heat, where the first two from each heat qualify along with the two best additional times to complete the eight runners in the final.
