QCOSTARICA — As part of the WTA Grand Tour 2024, a global search for the best travel and tourism organizations, it was announced that Costa Rica was chosen “Leading destination in Mexico and Central America”.
Gaia Hotel & Reserve, Costa Rica took the coveted title of “Leading Boutique Hotel in Mexico and Central America” and Ecuador’s La Selva Ecolodge & Retreat was named “Leading Ecological Lodge in South America.”
Top winners included Jamaica, which was voted “Leading Caribbean Destination,” as well as “Leading Caribbean Cruise Destination” and “Leading Caribbean Tourism Bureau.” Turks and Caicos faced stiff competition to win the title of “Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination,” while the Bahamas took the title of “Caribbean’s Leading Luxury Island Destination.” Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was named “The Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination.”

Las Vegas was voted “North America’s Leading Meeting and Conference Destination,” Santa Monica was voted “North America’s Leading Beach Destination,” and SUMMIT One Vanderbilt was voted “North America’s Leading Tourist Attraction.” Miami Beach earned the coveted honor of “North America’s Leading Destination City.”
Peru was chosen “Leading Destination in South America”, while its innovative gastronomy was recognized with the title of “Leading Culinary Destination in South America” and Machu Picchu as “Leading Tourist Attraction in South America”. Chile enjoyed a strong performance, earning a quintet of honors, including “Best Adventure Tourism Destination in South America” and “Best Green Destination in South America.”
The romantic charms of Cartagena de Indias were recognized when the Colombian coastal city was chosen as “Leading Honeymoon Destination in South America.” For its part, ProColombia was voted ‘South America’s Leading Tourism Sponsor’.
Hospitality winners included St. Lucia’s Fond Doux Eco Resort, hailed as the “Caribbean’s Leading Eco Resort.” The relentless drive towards excellence helped Sandals Resorts International lift the title of “Caribbean’s Leading Hotel Brand” and the superlative Sandals Saint Vincent & The Grenadines earned the title of “Caribbean’s Leading New Resort.”
Other hospitality winners included Jamaica’s Halfmoon (“The Caribbean’s Leading Hotel”); Round Hill Hotel & Villas (“the leading villa resort in the Caribbean”); Beaches Turks & Caicos (“Leading all-inclusive family resort in the Caribbean”).

In the aviation sector, Bahamasair was named “Caribbean’s Leading Airline,” while Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport was named “Caribbean’s Leading Airport.” Delta Air Lines was named “North America’s Leading Airline.”
Other winners included GO! Jamaica Travel (‘leading Caribbean tour operator’); Enchanting Travels (“leading tour operator in North America”); Costamar Travel (“South America’s Leading Travel Agency”).
The announcement comes as part of the WTA Grand Tour 2024, a global search for the best travel and tourism organizations, spanning six continents, with upcoming gala ceremonies in Manila, Philippines, and Diani Beach, Kenya. The winners of all WTA regional programs will advance to the Grand Final in Madeira, Portugal at the end of the year, when the winners of the prestigious “World Leaders” categories will be announced.
