QCOSTARICA — If you are Costa Rica and are going up against Brazil, a tie is like a win.
Such was the case on Monday, at the SoFi Stadium in suburban Los Angeles, as the Ticos left Brazil frustrated and scoreless in a match that will be remembered for how slanted it was for Brazil.
It will also be remembered for just how uninterested in having any kind of second half offense Costa Rica was.

The Brazil goalkeeper didn’t have to make a save all night long. The Brazilians had three times the possession of the field and outshot Costa Rica 19 to 2. Yet couldn’t get past Costa Rica’s defense.
For the Costa Ricans, it was like having won the World Cup.
That was on day 5 of the Copa América 2024.
Costa Rica now goes up against the Colombia national team on Friday (June 28).
The Copa América 2024 is the ongoing 48th edition of the quadrennial international men’s soccer championship organized by South America’s football ruling body CONMEBOL, being held in the United States from June 20 to July 14, 2024, and is co-organized by CONCACAF, with six teams (Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, United States, Canada and Costa Rica) taking part.
The opening match was held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, while the final will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
