Increase in gasoline prices in effect today

QCOSTARICA — The latest approved increase in the price of gasoline took effect today. At 12:01 am this Wednesday, at all gasoline stations across the country, a liter of regular gasoline costs ¢31 colones more, and super ¢15.

In the case of diesel, there was a reduction of ¢14 colones per liter, as did the price of propane used in kitchens across the country.

The new prices in effect as of today is:

  • ¢691 for a liter of regular gasoline
  • ¢728 for a liter of super
  • ¢638 for a liter of diesel

“Although the exchange rate fell (…) in the case of gasoline, what explains the adjustment is, specifically, the increase in Recope acquisition costs closely related to the evolution of international costs,” was the explanation by Mario Mora, Mayor of Energy at the Autoridad Reguladora de Servicios Publicos (Aresep) – the regulatory authority.
